Meet The Artist

I'm originally from Austin, TX but moved to Northglenn, CO in September 2018 with my husband, Reed. I started The Hummingbird and The Beagle in 2020, after leaving my previous position as a Technical Recruiter in the semiconductor industry in Austin.

The Hummingbird and The Beagle created a space to bring my love for creativity, color, human connection, and nature together. You will see me creating everything from vibrant colorful abstract artwork to custom gemstone creations that brighten your personal space. 

I gravitate towards bright colors, mixed with natural elements and enjoy creating art that introduces more color into life. My goal is to provide unique, mindfully priced, and handmade items for you or someone special. 

I love that people are curious about the business name and what it means. I've always admired hummingbirds and their whimsical characteristics. They were a frequent visitor in my backyard growing up in TX. My partner jokingly calls me Hummingbird as a nickname sometimes. He says I'm usually zooming around working on a project. I'll be there one second then I'm gone the next. Arthur, our beloved Beagle, was usually my shadow as I would run around in my creative chaos. He was always happy to tag along for the fun. I loved the idea of a hummingbird and a beagle enjoying the day, painting and being content in that creative space. I wanted to capture that moment with the name. 

Unfortunately, Arthur passed away in May 2024 at age 12 and we miss him everyday. He was an awesome dog and I love that he lives on through my logo and has inspired so many other adorable pet portraits that people have enjoyed and identified with around the country as greeting cards and stickers.
